WELCOME TO WOMB’S WEEKLY “TAKE 5…” SERIES! EVERY WEEK’S FRIDAY, WE FEATURE A SHORT 5-QUESTIONS INTERVIEW WITH A CONSCIOUS PERSONALITY TO INSPIRE YOU AND FURTHER TRIGGER YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS AND CURIOSITY. THIS TIME, PLEASE WELCOME FIRMANSYAH MASTUP FROM JAKARTA VEGAN GUIDE!

1. Tell us a bit about yourself, where are you from, and why do you choose to be based in Jakarta?
I was born and raised in Bogor, a small city not very far from Jakarta. After graduated from high school in 2006 I got a scholarship offer from one of the university in Jakarta. To cut the story short i took the offer and that was when I moved to Jakarta and I fell in love with the city until now.

2. What's important to you, and how do these values affect your professional choices?
I always think that we as a human being need to keep on pursuing what we dream and never stop learning even sometimes you feel like you want to give up. Failure is something that we don’t have to be afraid of and instead, we need to embrace it. Be honest to ourselves, and sometimes you need to put your brain behind and use your heart a little bit more.

3. Tell us about Jakarta Vegan Guide - why is the Indonesian capital a special place for this initiative?
Jakarta Vegan Guide is close to my heart because as a vegan in Jakarta. It is difficult to find all these information, most of the time when I google this information, the only sources I could find is from some bloggers from other countries who visited Jakarta which is very sad as I know there are many vegans and good places in Jakarta. So I started thinking why can’t we have a platform to guide these people including me to make our life easier. And since Instagram is currently a strong social media platform, we decided to create Jakarta Vegan Guide on Instagram on 6th April 2018.

4. Who are your personal heroes?
I would say everyone who has been around me for the last 30 years is my personal heroes, not that I don’t have any figure that I look up to. But I think heroes come in different form. In my case, my families, friends, partners, and colleagues who have been helping me to be where I am right now are my real personal heroes.

5. What other interesting projects are you working on?
We are currently in a process of creating our Jakarta vegan guide’s website that we plan to launch in April. We also plan to do our first ever vegan/cruelty-free market or festival in Jakarta later this year which is very exciting for us!
